Sista Afya

“At Sista Afya Community Mental Wellness, we believe that together, Black women across the African Diaspora can sustain mental wellness through connecting to resources and supporting one another.

We fulfill this through our mission of sustaining the mental wellness of Black women through building community, sharing information, and connecting Black women to quality mental wellness services. We believe that by making mental wellness simple, accessible, affordable, and centered around Black women's experiences, more people will get what they need to have a full, whole life. “

The Nap Ministry

“The Nap Ministry was founded in 2016 by Tricia Hersey and is an organization that examines the liberating power of naps. We engage with the power of performance art, site-specific installations, and community organizing to install sacred and safe spaces for the community to rest together. We facilitate immersive workshops and curate performance art that examines rest as a radical tool for community healing.  We believe rest is a form of resistance and name sleep deprivation as a racial and social justice issue.“

Education & Anti-Racism Resources

Summary of Stages of Racial Identity Development

“The attached charts summarize several frameworks that have been developed to describe stages of racial and ethnic identity development. We found them mostly in the psychology and therapy literature… Most of the framework carry the same few cautions. Not every person will necessarily go through every stage in a framework. Many of the authors specifically acknowledge that the stages might also be cyclical, that people might revisit different stages at different points in their lives.”

Scaffolded Anti-Racism Resources

“This is a working document for scaffolding anti-racism resources. The goal is to facilitate growth for white folks to become allies, and eventually accomplices for anti-racist work. All of these resources have been sourced from other Google docs, or articles -- we have simply reordered them in an attempt to make them more accessible. We will continue to add resources.”

“This document is intended to serve as a resource to white people and parents to deepen our anti-racism work. This includes resources for white parents to raise anti-racist children, articles to read, videos to watch, podcasts to subscribe to, books to read, films and tv series to watch, organizations to follow on social media, and other resources.
